JUST THINKING…

As you design,

do original work,

you think, you worry, you do good-better-best thinking,

You do the pros and cons,

You mini-max ideas.

You fight restraint, with exhurbance and joy.

You pick colors, infinite colors, spectrum of shades of white.

All this gets very philosophical… real fast.

Still, you capture ideas from others.. you steal, you copy, you adapt from what is new, and what is old-fashioned.

Indecision is on one shoulder and curiosity the other…

You “what if” your way into your ideas that evolve….

This is why it takes so long.

If it is done right, you explore the wild worlds of architecture….

But, you have to pick, and justify, and BELIEVE in styles…

You BELIEVE in the work of the GREAT designers before you… selecting ideas from each, to your own religious board of design.

This work you do alone, …for the most part.

If you are lucky enough to have a team… well, that exponentially complicates YOUR idea of design… unless you have a singular focus, as Alexander did.

(He managed a powerful team for 5 to 7 years in creating his 253 beliefs, and they acted as ONE person, headed by HIM. )

In this book I collected some of the concern I had in creating designs… Who knows how long the list really is… send me yours, and I can add them on here.

enjoy.
